1 to 37 — Happy Teacher's Day

Apparently, it takes a village to get someone to CLB 7. Here’s mine. 😂❤️

Hi Reader,

This Teacher's Day, I keep thinking about one number- 37.

That's how many trainers are part of Learn French With Anks today. But I still remember the day when it was just one- Me.

And somewhere between 1 and 37, my idea of a “great teacher” changed completely.

I used to think experience mattered most. 15 years of teaching. 20 years. Strong grammar, strong method.

Then TEF and TCF taught me something else.

A newer trainer who had actually sat the exam could understand a student's panic faster. The freezing mid-sentence. The examiner's follow up question. The fear of not knowing what to say next.

So what mattered more, years of teaching or real exam experience?
Turns out, you need both.

One trainer teaches you to speak French. Another teaches you to stop sounding memorized, someone works on your arguments and someone on your pronunciation. Another teaches you how to sit in front of an examiner and not fall apart.

Next time you read a student success story, look closely. There is rarely just one name in the thank you message – it is usually a list.

Today, one trainer might be in Calgary. Another in Vancouver.

Someone in India wakes up early because a student is racing a work permit deadline.

Someone in Toronto stays up late the night before an exam.

Different time zones. Different strengths. One goal.

“Because getting your Canadian PR was never a one-person job. Not for you, and not for us.”

You don't need 37 teachers who all teach the same way. You need the right combination of strengths for exactly where you're stuck.

So this Teacher's Day, I'm not just grateful for the people who teach French at LFWA. I'm grateful for every trainer who has contributed one small piece to someone else's future.
