The Comparison Trap

Hi Reader,

Every time someone clears their exam, we post it in our WhatsApp community.

Most people see it and feel a spark. “If she can do it, so can I.”

But some people see the exact same post and feel something else. A tightness. A small voice that says, “She is different. I am not built like that.”

I have watched this happen enough times to know it is not rare.

Out of a hundred people in that group, maybe eighty feel inspired. Twenty feel afraid.

And the fear is quiet.

It does not look like fear. It looks like scrolling past the post.

It looks like going silent for a few days.

It looks like telling yourself you will start seriously “next month.”

Here is what is actually happening in that moment.

You are not comparing your effort to theirs.
You are comparing your self doubt to their highlight reel.

You did not see the eight months of confusion before their clear speaking round. You did not see the mock tests they failed. You only saw the win. And your brain quietly decided that win came from something you do not have.

But it did not.

I have taught hundreds of students by now. The ones who clear are not the most naturally gifted. They are the ones who show up on the boring days too.

That is the whole secret. It is almost disappointing how simple it is.

“Consistency clears this exam. Not talent. Not luck. Not being ‘the exceptional one.’”

If a success story in our group ever makes you feel smaller instead of bigger, that is worth noticing. It is not a sign you cannot do this. It is a sign you are scared, and scared is allowed.

Just do not let scared make the decision for you.
